Hafling

Hafling (Italian: Avelengo ) is an Italian municipality with 725 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in South Tyrol, in the immediate vicinity of Merano, close to Bolzano.

Geography

The village of Hafling is located on the ridge Tschögglberg left the Adige ( Adige) between the towns of Merano and Bolzano. It is located on the ski and hiking area Merano 2000, which is mainly in the field of Hafling.

The district Hafling Oberdorf is the only closed part of the community Hafling. It was built after the road from Merano to Hafling 1980. Hafling belonged to the end of the First World War to the judicial district of Merano and was part of the district of Merano.

Attractions

The official emblem of Hafling is originally from the 13th century Church of St. Kathrein. Hafling stood as a namesake for the Haflinger horses Godfather.

Coat of arms

Description: In the silver coat of arms of a brown horse with golden mane and tail, stands in front of a green fir tree on a green hill Three in the sign. The horse represents a Haflinger, as the breed is named after the place.

Tourism

In Hafling, there are lovely walks in summer. Recommended is a trip on the nature trail or Sulfner - pond which is almost completely covered with white water lilies.
