Järve, Tallinn

Järve is a district (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It is located in Kristiine district.

Description

The municipality has 2,889 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010).

The name probably comes from the name of a former summer residence called heritage ( also Herman Berg).

In the field, some companies settled in the late 19th century before the then outskirts of the city of Tallinn on the cheap land. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Industrial O. Amberg founded a factory for processing of silicate rock ( Tallinna silikaat - puhelinliskivi vabrik O. Amberg yes Ko), which flourished in the interwar period. With the Soviet occupation of Estonia 1940, all industrial facilities were nationalized. In Järve the Soviet army was beyond build numerous military buildings. The district today is characterized again by Estonian and international industrial companies and commercial establishments.

In Järve is since 1923 a railway station, which is now operated by the Estonian railway company Elektriraudtee. 1926 was the station building in the national romantic art nouveau according to the plans of the Estonian architect Karl Burman the Elder ( 1882-1965 ). It is a historical monument since 1999.
