Joachim Werner ( born July 19, 1939 in Berlin, † 2010) was a former German rower. In 1964 he became Olympic champion in the four with coxswain.

The rowers from Berlin Rowing Club in 1963 set by coach Walter Full together with Egbert Hirschfelder in the foursome, who became world champion in 1962. The new line-up with Peter Neusel, Bernhard Brit Ting, Joachim Werner, Egbert Hirschfelder and helmsman Jürgen Oelke was able to build on the successes of previous occupation. The boat immediately won the German championship and won at the European Championships in Copenhagen before the boats from Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union. 1964 won Neusel, Brit Ting, Werner, Hirschfelder and Oelke again the championship. But at the European Championships in Amsterdam, they were subject to the newly formed Russian boat, the Berlin received four silver front of the Italian boot. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union, the three heats won. On the final day, October 15, the conditions due to strong winds were a bit difficult. The Soviet European champion boat had his problems with the conditions and finished in fifth place, while the Berlin Boat won the gold medal ahead of the Italians.
