Bernd Eichwurzel

Bernd calibration Root ( born October 25, 1964 in Oranienburg ) is a former rower from the GDR. 1988 Oak root Olympic champion in the four with coxswain.

Calibration root rowed for the SG Dynamo Potsdam coach Bernd Landvoigt. In 1982 he became Junior World Champion in the coxless pairs. In 1983 he started for the first time at the World Championships in adult category. In the occupation Bernd calibration root, Bernd Niesecke, Jörg Friedrich, Dietmar Schiller and helmsman Klaus -Dieter Ludwig of four took second place behind the boat from New Zealand. At the World Cup 1985, the Potsdamer four competed in the occupation calibration root, Niesecke, Karsten Schmeling, Schiller and helmsman Hendrik herons and won the bronze medal.

1986 moved Frank Klawonn for Schiller in the Potsdamer four. In the occupation Karsten Schmeling, Bernd Niesecke, Bernd calibration Root, Frank Klawonn and Hendrik heron boat succeeded in winning the East German championship in 1986 and 1988. The boat won the world title in 1986 in Nottingham and in Copenhagen in 1987. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 the quartet won by nearly three seconds ahead of the boat from Romania. In 1990, during the World Cup last time a team from the GDR, in the coxed four won Mario Grüssel, Stefan Schulz, Detlef Kirchhoff, Bernd calibration root and Hendrik Reiher the title, the boat from the Federal Republic of Germany took second place.

Bernd calibration root worked until the turn at the People's Police, after which he worked as a truck driver. For his Olympic gold medal in Seoul, he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold. He received this award for the world title in 1986.
