Kenya national football team

The Kenyan national football team is the national football team of Kenya and is the local Football Association, the Kenya Football Federation, controlled.

Kenya was already five times, most recently in 2004, to qualify for the African Nations Cup, but always different in the first round. At the World Cup, the country has never participated. Although Kenya played since 1974 all qualifying rounds, but failed every time at just under most of 1998, when a 0:3 in Nigeria in the penultimate game meant the end.

The national players who are active in Europe, usually playing in the leagues of Sweden and Norway. In one of the bigger leagues so far could Dennis Oliech (FC Nantes) arrive, the currently most famous football players in the country, McDonald Mariga, who plays for Inter Milan.

The nickname of the team, "The Harambee Stars", is derived from the Swahili word " Harambee " from which roughly means, "Let us go all together on a rope ."

Tournaments

World Cup

In qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, Kenya met initially in return game to the Seychelles. Both games were won, making Kenya in the group stage met in Malawi, Nigeria and Namibia, against which the team could not prevail and after the 0-1 home defeat against Nigeria on June 5, 2013 could no longer qualify for the World Cup.
