Open de Nice Côte d'Azur

The ATP tournament in Nice ( officially Open de Nice Côte d' Azur ) is a men's tennis tournament, which will be held in Nice since 2010. It is a tournament of Category ATP World Tour 250 and takes place every year in the week before the French Open. The competition in Nice replaced the ATP tournament in Kitzbühel in the tournament calendar. Previously a professional tournament in Nice was held in the years 1971 to 1995.

History

The Nice Lawn Tennis Club hosted from 1971 to 1995 every year a pro tournament in Nice. The last winner (1995 ) was the Swiss Marc Rosset. The first winner of Nice `s championship was Francis Louis Fassitt 1898. Ilie Năstase (1971, 1972), Bjorn Borg (1977, 1980), Henri Leconte (1985, 1988) and Nicolas Almagro (2011, 2012) won the tournament twice. Yannick Noah in 1981 was the first French winner Marc -Kevin Goellner and in 1993 was the first and only German Champion in Nice.
