Rethwisch (Stormarn)

Rethwisch ( Low German Reetwisch ) is a municipality in the district Stormarn in Schleswig-Holstein. At the turn of the 17th and 18th century was Rethwisch briefly residence of the small Duchy of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Plön -Rethwisch.

Geography

The municipality comprises the seven districts Rethwisch Rethwisch village, Steensrade, Mrs. Wood, Tralauerholz, old pasture, small floor and Treuholz.

History

Rethwisch was first documented in the 11th century. The name Rethwisch, formerly Redewisch means reed grass (red = reed, smudge = meadow).
