Ross Rizley

Ross Rizley (* July 5, 1892 in Beaver, Beaver County, Oklahoma, † March 4, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ) was an American politician. Between 1941 and 1949 he represented the eighth election district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ross Rizley was born on a farm near Beaver. He attended the common schools and taught even in primary schools in Beaver County later. Between 1911 and 1912 Rizley land registry official was in this county. After studying law at the University of Kansas City and his 1915 was admitted to the bar he began in Beaver to work in his new profession. Between 1918 and 1920 he was district attorney in Beaver County. He then moved to Guymon in Texas County. In his new home, he worked as a lawyer. Between 1924 and 1932 he was a member of the Board of Governors of Guymon and from 1928 to 1938 he was the legal representative of the city.

Politically Rizley member of the Republican Party. From 1931 to 1934 he was a member of the Senate of Oklahoma. In 1938 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Governor of Oklahoma. In the years 1932, 1936 and 1948 he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions relevant. In 1940 he was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Phil Ferguson on January 3, 1941. After three elections Rizley was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1949 a total of four legislative sessions. There he was in his last term Chairman of the Special Committee for the control of campaign spending.

1948 renounced Rizley to another candidate for the House of Representatives. Instead, he applied unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate. He then worked as a lawyer for the Ministry of Postal Services; 1953 to 1954 he was head of department in the Ministry of Agriculture. Between 1955 and 1956 Rizley was a member of the civil aviation committee. Since 1956 until his death in 1969, he served as a judge at the Federal District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

His daughter was the actress Claudia Bryar ( 1918-2011 ).
