Shires of Scotland

Scotland is divided into 34 counties traditionally (English counties ). They now serve only to illustrate historical and cultural differences, so do not fulfill any management function more.

Launched in 1889, administrative counties of Scotland based on the boundaries of the traditional counties. However, the numerous exclaves and enclaves were adjusted. Ross -shire and Cromartyshire were combined to form the fragmented Ross and Cromarty.
