Trimport

Trimport is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geography

Trimport is located in the German part of the Food Land. To Trimport includes the living space Teitelbach.

History

Grave finds and architectural remains indicate a settlement of the area in Roman times. First mentioned the village in the land register is Prüm in 893 as Trimparden. Trimport was to the 15th century feud of the Counts of Vianden. Later, the place was under Luxembourg sovereignty. After the French annexation of 1794/95 came to Trimport Mairie Meckel, who later became mayor Meckel under Prussian rule. In the late 19th century, the mayor was first combined with Idenheim and then with the mayor's Bitburg -Land. Since 1970 Trimport belongs to the then newly formed community association Bitburg -Land.

The local council in Trimport consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

Regard to the membership of the Duchy of Luxembourg is the split of silver and blue shield. As a reference to the church patron, St. Catherine cartwheel is given in red, while the red labels indicating the counts of Vianden. The flagstick with a full red cross in silver Hissflagge wears the colors of the Prüm Abbey, pointing to the membership of this imperial abbey.

Attractions

  • The Church of St. Catherine, a hall building erected in 1788, stands in place of a previous church mentioned in 1569.
