U.S. Route 50

U.S. Highway 50 ( U.S. 50 short ) is a United States highway in the United States. It begins in West Sacramento on Interstate 80 in the state of California and ends after 4846 kilometers in Ocean City on Maryland Route 528

At the opening of the highway in 1926 there were two separate sections. The western part linking Sacramento with Ely in Nevada, and the section to the east of Thistle was in Utah to Annapolis south of Baltimore, Maryland. The sections were connected until 1928. Since 1978, the end points of the U.S. were 50 not altered in Ocean City and West Sacramento.

In Nevada, U.S. 50 carries the name The Loneliest Road in America. This designation was awarded in 1986 by the Zeitschreift Life due to the sparse population along the road and later used for marketing purposes.
