Villars-sous-Champvent

Villars -sous- Pittet was until 31 December 2011, a municipality in the district of Jura -Nord Vaudois in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. On January 1, 2012, it merged with Pittet.

Geography

Villars -sous- Pittet is on 464 m above sea level. M., 4.5 km west of the district capital Yverdon- les- Bains ( straight line ). The farming village extends slightly above the Valley of the Bey, the Vaud Mittelland.

History

The village was called in the Middle Ages La Grange -de- Pittet. Villars -sous- Pittet was in the Middle Ages of the rule Pittet. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village came under the administration of the Bailiwick of Yverdon. After the collapse of the ancien régime Villars -sous- Champvent belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the district of Yverdon. Villars -sous- Champvent does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Pittet.
