Wallbach, Thuringia

Wall is a municipality in the district Schmalkalden- Meiningen in Thuringia. It belongs to the administrative community to Wasungen official sand, which has its headquarters in the city Wasungen.

Geography

Wall Street Bach is a village between Walldorf and Metzels in the front Rhön. East of the village is the Dolmar.

History

For the first time the municipality in 1230 was mentioned. The place belonged to 1480 to Wurzburg enclave Meiningen and came at this time to hen bergischen Office Wasungen. Thus, the place belonged from 1500 to the Frankish Empire circle and came in 1680 to the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen. Until the division of the county of Henneberg in 1660 the jurisdiction was still running from the center Meiningen, only then the place came to court Wasungen.

Wall 1603-1612 Bach was affected by witch hunts: Ten women got into witchcraft and burned. The first victim in 1603 was Cunegonde shock.

Policy

The local council of Wall Bach is composed of six council women and councilors who belong to the SPD. (As at municipal election on June 27, 2004)

The honorary mayor Thomas Hartung was elected on 27 June 2004.
