Geographical Location

Zerlach is located about 23 km south- east of Graz, approximately 17 km to the west of the district capital Schwarzau field creek in East Styrian Hill Country.

History

Zerlach is an agricultural community with a square measure of 2,377 ha In the census in 1981, 1,584 inhabitants were counted, they arrange themselves turn into 370 households.

The name Zerlach earlier " Zedlach " was first mentioned in Babenberg land register in 1220. Zerlach translated means " to or at the alders ". The community was once in the possession of some castles and manors and a weir.
