1977–78 Coppa Italia
The Coppa Italia 1977/78, the football cup competition for club teams in Italy of the 1977/ 78 Inter Milan won. Inter met in the final at Napoli and was able to win the Coppa Italia for the second time. 2-1, the team of coach Eugenio Bersellini prevailed. It was the successor to the AC Milan, which had prevailed in the previous year against Inter, but this time was excreted in the second group stage.
As an Italian Cup Winners 1977/78 to Inter Milan qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup the following year, where it was eliminated in the quarter- final against the Belgian representative KSK Beveren.

Since the AS Taranto Calcio and Pescara were both point - and torgleich, the direct comparison ended goalless draw, a playoff was needed to determine the qualifier for the second round. Here, Taranto prevailed 3-2 on return game.
