Course of the season and Table

Each team wore against each group opponent a back and a leg off, even before a home crowd and once away. It was the three- point rule; case of a tie, the goal difference was the decisive factor for the placement.

The three later climbers had already sold several games before the end of the season so far from the chasing pack that they could relatively " relaxed " play the second division championship among themselves. Here, Nancy had at the end of the nose forward while Le Mans - einliefen tied and Troyes - after only one year in the L2. Behind them, placed a group of six teams, which were also the two other relegated last year ( Guingamp and Montpellier ) and two teams that were twelve months earlier started drittklassig (Dijon and Brest). The third year climber, the Red -Whites from Reims, could secure his affiliation to the second division for another season.

In the 380 matches 848 goals were scored; which corresponds to an average of 2.2 goals per game. Goalscorer and thus winning the league's top scorer was Bakary Koné from Lorient with 24 goals, had thus achieved more than half of the goals of his team. For the following season came with Stade Malherbe Caen, SC Bastia and FC Istres three relegated from Ligue 1 added; from the third- highest division rose just two teams, namely the Valenciennes - FC Anzin and - after 16 years in professional football the absence of this particular traditional clubs - FC Sète. The runner-up of the National ( D3) AS d' Origine Arménienne Valence, received after the season for financial reasons no license for the second division; thus did not have to dismount the table Eighteenth Clermont yet.

(A) = relegated from Ligue 1; (N) = climbers from the National
