Alfred Rüegg

Alfred " Fredy " Rüegg ( born May 7, 1934 in Zurich, † 24 April, 2010 Affoltern am Albis ) was a Swiss racing driver.

Life

Fredy Rüegg was a trained cabinet maker; by his journeys to work by bike for 24 kilometers, it came to cycling. During his active years as a cyclist from 1957 to 1967 he was eleven times Swiss champion on road and rail. In 1960 he won the Tour de Suisse. In 1961 he took part in the Tour de France and was ranked 12 overall. In 1957, he had also won the Giro del Mendrisio. He also won a pair of time trial in Le Locle, together with his brother Walti which in a car accident died 1965.

Three times turned Fredy Rüegg Hour world records, 1958 still as an amateur over 45.587 km, as a professional in 1959 about 45.843 km and 1962 on 46.819 km. All record attempts took place in Zurich's Hallenstadion.

In 1967, Rüegg back from active cycling and in 1974, founded the company " Fredy Rüegg Velo- Sport" in Affoltern. His motto was known " for Change Schriner I build very schöni Velorähme ".
