Amatenango del Valle is a municipality in the center of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas.

The name of the village comes in part from the Nahuatl and means facing the Code in the valley. This municipality has about 8,700 inhabitants and is 152.6 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Amatenango del Valle.
