Sabanilla is a municipality in the north of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The name comes from the Tzeltal and means " fast stream ".

The municipality has about 25,000 inhabitants and an area of 250.8 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Sabanilla.

The municipality borders the Municipalities Sabanilla Tila, Simojovel and Huitiupan as well as to the state of Tabasco.
