Boron (Territoire de Belfort)

Boron is a town in the French department of Territoire de Belfort in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Boron is located on 375 m altitude, about 15 kilometers southeast of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the lowlands of the Burgundian Gate, in the trough of a side of the Ruisseau de l' ecrevisse.

The area of ​​6.05 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside in the Burgundian Gate ( trouée de Belfort ). The northern part of the area is traversed in southeast-northwest direction from the valley of the village Bach, which ensures the drainage of the ecrevisse and Bourbeuse to Allaine. This trough is flanked on both sides by a plateau, which is on average 390 m. It is partly, partly covered with arable and meadow land with forest. In hollows and valleys there are several ponds that were created for fish farming. To the west, the municipality's area extends over the plateau in the vast forest area Bois Lachat, to the southeast to in the Grand Bois. With 397 meters the highest point of Boron is achieved on the southern boundary of the municipality in Grand Bois.

Neighboring communities of Boron are Grosne and Vellescot in the north, Florimont in the east, and Faverois Joncherey in the south and Grandvillars in the West.

History

The first mention in writing Boron in 1105 in a charter of the Priory Froidefontaine. Since the 12th century boronic included in the County Ferrette. In the first half of the 14th century the village came under the suzerainty of the Habsburg dynasty. Together with the Sundgau came Boron with the 1648 Peace of Westphalia to the French crown. Since 1793, the village belonged to the Department of Haut -Rhin, however, remained in 1871 as part of the Territoire de Belfort as opposed to the rest of Alsace in France.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Luc was constructed in the middle of the 19th century. Since then, Boron forms a separate parish; previously it belonged to the parish Grosne. The village is characterized by half -timbered houses in the traditional style of the Sundgauvian.

Population

With 434 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Boron is one of the small communities of the department of Territoire de Belfort. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1901 271 persons were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the early 1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Boron was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ), fish farming and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Belfort.

The village is located off the major road links on a secondary road that leads from Delle by Danne Marie. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 16 kilometers. Further road links exist with Grosne and Grandvillars.
