Reppe, Territoire de Belfort

Reppe ( formerly Rispach German ) is a town in the French department of Territoire de Belfort in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Reppe is at 362 m, approximately 13 kilometers east-northeast of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The former village street lines extending in the Burgundian Gate, on the plateau in the foothills of the Vosges, in the broad valley east of the creek Loutre ( in the following also called Reppe ).

The area of ​​3.88 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the weakly in relief landscape in the Burgundian Gate ( trouée de Belfort ). The central part of the area is traversed in a north-south direction from the valley of the Loutre, which has a width of approximately one kilometer. The creek drains the area of the Bourbeuse to Allaine. The level in the foothills of the Vosges is on average 360 m. It is mostly covered with arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. To the east the land rises slightly to the wooded plateau of Haut- Bois, in the 399 m, the highest elevation of Reppe is achieved. In the southeast, the municipality's area extends to the edge of the Bois de l' Epine.

Neighboring communities of Reppe are Vauthiermont and Saint -Cosme in the north, Bréchaumont in the east, Chavannes -sur- Fontaine l'Étang in the south and the west.

History

Is first mentioned Reppe in 1331 under the name Riespach. It belonged to the reign Thann. Middle of the 14th century came Reppe under the suzerainty of the Habsburg dynasty. Together with the Sundgau came the village with the 1648 Peace of Westphalia to the French crown. Since 1793 Reppe belonged to the Department of Haut -Rhin, however, remained in 1871 as part of the Territoire de Belfort as opposed to the rest of Alsace in France. Since 1997, Reppe is affiliated with 12 other municipalities for municipal association Communauté de communes du Tilleul.

Attractions

The Church of St. Blaise ( Église Saint -Blaise ) was built in 1777. A typical example of architecture of the 19th century is the Mairie -École ( municipal and school building ), which was built in 1846 of red sandstone from the Vosges. From the 19th century comes the chapel Notre- Dame de Bellefontaine.

Population

With 322 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Reppe is one of the small communities of the department of Territoire de Belfort. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1896 291 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Reppe was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some farms of the local small business and an enterprise of the agricultural machinery manufacturing. On the communal land was a part of the runway facilities of the disused airfield in 1986 Belfort -Fontaine. Here is the Aéroparc since 1992, a large commercial and industrial zone. The village is located off the major road links on a secondary road, leading from Foussemagne after Vauthiermont. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about five kilometers. Further road links exist with Fontaine, Bréchaumont and Elbach.
