Cazzago San Martino

Cazzago San Martino is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,034 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy. The municipality is situated approximately 16 km west-northwest of Brescia. Approximately 8 kilometers north is Lake Iseo.

History

For the year 1050 a fortification is detected, which was in the territory of the Bishop of Brescia. 1312 was this newly built, during the debates with the participation of the Guelphs and Ghibellines. From 1385 was the community or the church today part of the territory of the Republic of Venice. Following the reorganization of the municipalities today's districts were summarized in 1927 by the Fascist regime to the municipality Cazzago San Martino.

Economy and Transport

Cazzago San Martino lies in the Franciacorta wine district. In some districts of the protected designation of origin under wine is grown. There are also numerous cultures with maize. South of the village the Autostrada A4 runs from Turin to Venice and Trieste.

The main town has a railway connection to the railway line Rovato - Bornato, which is served by regional trains. In addition to the districts Bornato and Calino is the railway station Bornato - Calino, where the coming of the railroad track in Rovato Brescia - Iseo - Edolo opens.
