Gargnano

Gargnano is a town with 2999 ​​inhabitants ( 31 December 2012), which lies on the west bank of the Italian lake.

Location and data

The city is located in the Lombardy region in the province of Brescia. The place consists of 13 districts, three of which ( Bogliaco, Gargnano, Villa ) are located on Lake Garda, the rest inland between Lake Garda and Lake Valvestino. The neighboring municipalities are Brenzone ( VR), Capovalle, Tignale, Torri del Benaco ( VR), Toscolano -Maderno, Valvestino and Vobarno.

The climate is always mild, almost Mediterranean, as this part of the west coast ( Riviera Bresciana ) is protected by the mountains.

History

Gargnano was mentioned in 973. Middle of the 13th century, was founded by the Franciscan monastery. In 1285 they built the Church, St. Francis was dedicated.

From 1921 to 1933 Gargnano was the end point of the Tramway Brescia Salò - Gargnano.

Church of San Francesco
