Coyotepec is a municipality in the Mexican state of México. It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México, the metropolitan region around Mexico City. The seat of the municipality and its largest city is the same Coyotepec, the second largest town in the municipality of La Planada is. The community had in 2010 39.030 inhabitants, its surface area is 47.8 km ².

Geography

Coyotepec located in the northeast of the State of Mexico, about 30 km north of Mexico City.

The municipality borders the Municipalities Huehuetoca, Zumpango, Teoloyucan and Tepotzotlán.
