Dobl is a market town with 1752 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) southwest of Graz in the district of Graz-Umgebung in Styria. From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the community Zwaring - Pöls, the new community will be called " Dobl - Zwaring ".

Geographical Location

Dobl located at the Kaiser forest in the valley of Kainach about 14 km southwest of Graz.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Dobl, Muttendorf and Petzendorf.

Neighboring communities

History

Dobl was first mentioned as " Tobel " in 1219 as Archbishop Eberhard II of Salzburg zuwies the parish the newly established diocese Seckau. For centuries the history of Dobl was influenced by Gjaidhof castle, which was a hunting lodge of Maria Theresa.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Dobl situated on the South motorway (A 2). The nearest connection points are Lieboch (194 ) 3 km away and Unterpremstätten (188 ) in 5 km away. The Phyrn motorway (A9) can be reached via the junction Schachenwald (192 ) in 5 km. In the municipality is the service area Kaiserwald.

Autobuslininien of Graz in Western Styria touch the rehabilitation center Tobelbad the General Accident Insurance Company. The area of this hospital was only until 1850 to Dobl. It is not in the church Dobl, but in the north, an area neighboring hazel -Tobelbad since then.

A train station is not in place, but the neighboring communities have access to the Graz- Köflacher Railroad: In Unterpremstätten and Lieboch on the route Graz- Koeflach and in Lieboch and Lannach to track Lieboch - Germany mountain.

Graz Airport is about 10 km away.

Culture and sights

As a point of interest is the transmitter Dobl to mention a medium wave transmitter from the 2nd World War. The transmission tower is a listed building, as well as the transmitter building, which now houses the private radio station Antenne Steiermark is located.
