Gratwein

Gratwein is a market town with 3696 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the north-west of Styria Graz in the district Graz-Umgebung and judicial district of Graz -West. As part of the municipality of structural reform in Styria it is merged in 2015 with the communities of Jews Village Straßengel, Rein and Gschnaidt, the new community will be called market town Gratwein - Straßengel. This is based on the Styrian community structure reform law - StGsrG.

Geography

Geographical Location

Gratwein situated on the western banks of the Mur against Gratkorn about ten kilometers northwest of the provincial capital of Graz. The community has grown together with the neighboring community of Jews village.

Geology

Gratwein located in Gratkorn basin, which opens up to the West Styrian Riedland and forms a widening of the Murtal.

Neighboring communities

History

The local churches as autonomous bodies created after the abolition of the manors in 1850. Katastralgemeinden The Jewish village, Straßengel, Rotz, dog village and Kugelberg belonged to the municipality Gratwein.

Jews Village Straßengel developed from 1860 becoming one of the most famous spas of kuk Monarchy and finally reached the secession of Gratwein and became in 1909 an independent local church.

2015 Gratwein be merged in the course of the Styrian government reform with Jewish village Straßengel and Rein.

Traffic

The proximity to Graz Gratwein is a very good transport connected. The municipality is not located directly on one of the main roads, but on the regional road Gratkorn according to Rein. Through this connection is the Grazerstraße B can be reached in about two km 67. The nearest connection points of Phyrn motorway A 9 are German Feistritzwerke (165 ) in about eight kilometers to the north direction and Gratkorn (173 ) in about six kilometers to the south direction.
