Dornstadt

Dorn city is a municipality in the Alb- Donau district of the German state of Baden- Württemberg ( Germany ). It is located eight kilometers north of Ulm.

Geography

Geographical location

Dorn city lies on the southern edge of the city on the Swabian Alb Ulmer Alb. Dorn city itself lies at 590 m above sea level, the partial town Scharenstetten to 707 m above sea level.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Lonsee, to the east by Westerstetten and Beimerstetten, to the south by the city of Ulm, on the southwest by Blaustein, and to the northwest by Merklingen Laichingen and Nellingen.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1225. The widespread year 1209 is not confirmed by the Landesarchivdirektion Baden- Württemberg. Until 1465 Dorn city was one of the possessions of the monastery of Lorch and then passed into the possession of the monastery Elchingen and was subordinate to the Pflegamt Tomerdingen. Ecclesiastical hand belonged thorn city until 1674 to Tormerdinger Parish of the Assumption and was then raised an independent parish. As part of the Imperial Diet conclusion in 1803, the monastery Elchingen lost his land. Dorn city was temporarily Bavarian, until it finally fell to the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1810.

Today, the site thorn city itself has around 4400 inhabitants, the largest subsite of the total community.

The church in its present composition emerged in the mid -1970s. After the community Bollingen had been incorporated with their district Böttingen on July 1, 1971 united on 1 January 1975 the municipalities thorn city and Tomerdingen the new community thorn city, and the communities Scharenstetten and Temmenhausen were incorporated into the new church.

Scharenstetten

The frescoes of the 14th century in the choir area were established during renovation work in 1958. The Apostles images of Tomerdinger Baroque painter Josef Wannenmacher came in 1767 in the church. Of particular importance is the altar of the church, who comes from the school of Hans Multscher and was built in 1450. During the iconoclasm, he was relocated from the Ulmer Münster, where he originally stood in a Ulmer magazine. In 1760 he was placed in the church of St. Lawrence, as the existing flock Stetter altar was not in good condition and the then flock Stetter bailiff had asked the Ulmer Pfarrkirchenbaupflegeamt an old altar.

Temmenhausen

Temmenhausen home to about 600 people.

For the youth there are two youth clubs, the container Temmenhausen and the whey Temmenhausen.

In the mayoral election on 22 April 2007 Rainer Braig was elected with 51.4 percent of the vote. He took up his duties on 1 July 2007. Previously, Erich Georg Mack Mayor (1991 to 2007).

Dorn city located directly on the A8 Stuttgart- Munich motorway exit Ulm-West/Dornstadt (exit 62).

Established businesses

Dorn city has set up a 40 -hectare commercial area called heaven hamlet, expansion space for companies in the region of Ulm / Neu- Ulm. There is also a container station, which was opened in November 2005. The convenient location makes thorn city attractive to many companies.

Wind farm Temmenhausen

Since the beginning of 2007 between Temmenhausen and Bermaringen ( Gde Blaustein ) are five wind turbines from Vestas in operation. The hub height of the three wind turbines, which are located on the Bermaringer page is 108 m, which of the two at Temmenhausen 98 m.

Culture and sights

Regular events

Every summer, thorn town instead of the Obstwiesenfestival, occur on the numerous, sometimes well-known live bands. Admission is free.
