Esteban Gutiérrez (born 5 August 1991, Monterrey, Nuevo León) is a Mexican racing driver. In 2010, he won the championship title of the GP3 series. He started in 2011 and 2012 in the GP2 series. He has been driving for Sauber in 2013 in Formula 1

Career

After Gutiérrez his motorsport career in 2004 started in karting, 2007, he moved to Formula racing and participated in the American Formula BMW. With four wins, he won the runner-up title behind Daniel Morad and was the best rookie. He also appeared in two races in the German Formula BMW. In 2008 he moved to Europe in the European Formula BMW, which was formed from the merger of the British to the German Formula BMW. With seven victories, he won the league title this formula before Marco Wittmann and thus became the youngest Mexican racing driver of all time, who won an international title. He also competed in two races in the German Formula 3 Cup and the International Formula Master. At the World Finals of the Formula BMW he finished third behind the winner Alexander Rossi and Michael Christensen.

2009 started Gutiérrez as team-mate Jules Bianchi, and Valtteri Bottas Adrien Tambay for ART Grand Prix in the Formula 3 Euro Series. With two third places at the end of the season, he finished ninth. He also completed four guest appearances in the British Formula 3 Championship. The highlight of the year was a Formula 1 test day for the BMW Sauber team, Gutiérrez was allowed to contest in December 2009. 2010 Gutiérrez went for ART Grand Prix at the newly founded GP3 Series at the start. With five victories he secured clinched the first championship of the GP3 series ahead of Robert Wickens. He also completed for ART guest starts in the Formula 3 Euro Series and the British Formula 3 Championship.
