The Euro Vision Song Contest 1969 was the 14th competition of its kind in the history of the event by the Euro vision. He was on 29 March 1969 in Madrid, Spain under the official title 14 Gran Premio de la Canción de euro vision held since last year's winner came from this country.

Special

No less than four different performers and countries won the competition:

  • Salomé for Spain with the song Vivo cantando
  • Lulu for Great Britain and Northern Ireland with the song Boom Bang -a- Bang
  • Lenny Kuhr troubadour for the Netherlands with the song De
  • Frida Boccara for France with the song Un jour, un enfant.

Since there were no regulations concerning a tie, all four countries were declared winners. According to current regulations, France would have been declared the winner, since it received votes from most countries, together with Spain and would have had to have a higher individual classification as Spain.

The moderator was broadcast by the Spanish announcer Laurita Valenzuela. Austria boycotted the event, as one might have no platform of the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. The artist Salvador Dalí, a friend of the dictator, was in charge in advance for advertising and partly for the artistic design.

Already in 1968, a single with the imprint " La chanson officielle du Liechtenstein pour le Grand Prix Euro Vision 1969 " (the official contribution of Liechtenstein to the Grand Prix Euro Vision 1969) was published in France. With a serious attempt participation of Liechtenstein in the Euro Vision Song Contest 1969 this had nothing to do, if only because the country to this day has no EBU member, and therefore not allowed to participate in the competition. In the sung by Vetty title "Un beau matin " ( One fine morning ) is a parody of the French author duo Jacques Martin (text) and Jean Baïtzouroff ( music) to the Euro Vision competition and style of the songs presented there. The title is as a gag on the compiled by Patrick Campistron 3- CD compilation " Euro Vision - Les plus belles chansons françaises " to find, but also as a winking reminder not to take the Euro Vision Song Contest it too seriously.

Interpreter of the Dutch title winners, Lenny Kuhr
