Gerd Cintl

Gerd Cintl, partly out as Gert Cintl, ( born December 11, 1938 in Dusseldorf ) is a retired German rower. He won Olympic gold in Rome in 1960.

Cintl launched for the Rowing Club Germania Dusseldorf 1904. 1958 he was, together with Horst Effertz German champion in pairs without coxswain and two with coxswain, helmsman sat Michael Obst in the boat. At the European Championships in 1958 and Cintl Effertz won silver in two without.

1959 rose Cintl and Effertz into the four with coxswain. The boat of Germania Dusseldorf in the occupation of Klaus Wegner, Gerd Cintl, Horst Effertz, Claus Hess with coxswain Michael Obst won both at the German Championship and the European Championship.

For the 1960 Olympics on the Alban lake, the boat was transformed. In the occupation Gerd Cintl, Horst Effertz, Klaus Riekemann, Jürgen Litz and Michael Obst, the boat won both forward and intermediate run with the fastest time. In the finale, the boat could safely assert against the French boat.
