Graham Poll

Graham Poll ( born July 29, 1963 in Tring, Hertfordshire, England ) is an English former football referee.

Career

Poll was FIFA referee since 1996 and whistled his first international match during the 1997 World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan Finland.

He finished 2005 in the world rankings Referee of the Year the 5th Place.

In 2006 he was nominated along with 22 other referees for the Football World Cup in Germany. Previously, he was whistling already at Euro 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands in the 2002 World Cup in Japan / South Korea, as well as at the European Championships in Portugal in 2004.

Curiosities

Poll made ​​on 22 June 2006 for a curiosity, as he in the game Croatia - the Croatian Josip Šimunić accidentally referred Australia at the 2006 World Cup after the third yellow card of the field. After this incident Poll garnered heavy criticism, including from FIFA boss Sepp Blatter, so that the Englishman decided to end his international career.
