Joseph Dysart

Joseph Dysart ( born July 8, 1820 Pennsylvania, † September 8, 1893 in Dysart, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1874 and 1876 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

About the youth and education of Joseph Dysart nothing is handed down. He worked as a farmer. At an unknown date he came to Iowa, where he settled in a municipality in Tama County, which then after him was given the name Dysart. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. For some time he sat in the Senate of Iowa.

In 1874, Dysart was elected to the side of Cyrus C. Carpenter as Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. This post he held 1874-1876. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he is no longer politically have appeared. He died on 8 September 1893 in Dysart.
