Frank T. Campbell

Frank T. Campbell ( born May 8, 1836 in Ripley, Brown County, Ohio; † March 6, 1907 in Lima, Ohio ) was an American politician. Between 1878 and 1882 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

Frank Campbell first began to study law, but he dropped out to work in the newspaper industry. Since 1857 he has been resident in Newton ( Iowa). During the Civil War he served in the army of the Union. In the meantime he became seriously ill with malaria. After the war he continued his previous work. He was also engaged in trade and in the insurance industry. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. For eight years he sat in the Senate of Iowa.

1878 Campbell was elected to the side of John H. Gear for Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. This post he held 1878-1882. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Between 1888 and 1892 Campbell was a member of the Railway Commission of his state. In 1904, he moved to Lima, Ohio, where he was responsible for his ill son. There he continued to be active in the newspaper business. He died on March 6, 1907 in this city.
