Kenneth A. Evans

Kenneth A. Evans ( born November 9, 1898 in Emerson, Mills County, Iowa, † December 11, 1970 in Red Oak, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1945 and 1951 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

Kenneth Evans attended the public schools of his home, the St. James School in Faribault (Minnesota ) and the Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. He also studied at the University of Illinois. He later worked in Iowa and Nebraska on farms and in farm management. He was also director of a life insurance policy. During the First World War he served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. For two years he was the district chairman in Montgomery County. The municipal council of Emerson, he belonged to for over ten years. Between 1937 and 1944 he sat in the Senate of Iowa.

1944 Evans was elected to the side of Robert D. Blue for Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. This post he held 1945-1951. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1949, he served under the new Governor William S. Beardsley. He died on 11 December 1970 in Red Oak and was buried in Emerson.
