Orlando H. Manning

Orlando Harrison Manning ( born May 18, 1847 in Abington, Wayne County, Indiana, † September 19, 1909 in Atlantic City, New Jersey ) was an American politician. Between 1882 and 1886 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

At an unknown date Orlando Manning came with his family to Iowa. After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started in Carroll to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1876 and 1880 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Iowa.

On the side of the Boers Sherman, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. This post he held 1882-1886. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he practiced as a lawyer again. This profession he practiced in Denver, Topeka, Chicago and New York City. He died on September 19, 1909 in Atlantic City.
