Robert T. Anderson

Robert T. Anderson ( born March 8, 1945 near Newton, Jasper County, Iowa) is an American politician. Between 1983 and 1987 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

Robert Anderson graduated from high school in Le Grand and studied at the University of Iowa journalism afterwards. For ten years he worked as a high school teacher in various cities in Iowa. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In 1974 he was elected to the House of Representatives from Iowa. There he remained until 1982. During this time he was a member of several committees. 1982 Anderson was elected to the side of Terry E. Branstad for Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. This post he held 1983-1987. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. He was also the first Democrat who held this office under a Republican governor.

Since the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor Robert Anderson works in Newton in the real estate industry. In 1987 he founded the Iowa Peace Institute in life, its executive director, he was.
