Ernest Robert Moore

Ernest Robert Moore ( born November 1, 1868 in Anamosa, Jones County, Iowa; † March 4, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1917 and 1921 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Iowa.

Career

About the youth and education of Ernest Moore nothing has survived. Later he worked as a banker. He moved to Cedar Rapids and took as lieutenant part in the Spanish-American War of 1898. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. For some time he sat in the House of Representatives from Iowa. In June 1908 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago, at the William Howard Taft was nominated as a presidential candidate.

Moore was elected in 1916 on the side of William L. Harding to the lieutenant governor of Iowa. This post he held 1917-1921. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he is no longer politically have appeared. He died on March 4, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, where he was also buried.
