Mühlbach, South Tyrol
Mühlbach ( Rio di Pusteria italian ) is a market town with 2974 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in South Tyrol (Italy).
Geography
The community Mühlbach is located northeast of the city of Brixen in South Tyrol. The community center, Mühlbach ( 750-830 m asl ), located at the junction of Eisacktal Val Pusteria - right on Muhlbacher reservoir, in which the coming of the Pusteria Rienz is dammed and through which runs the border with the neighboring municipality of southeastern Rodeneck. Behind the center is the entrance of the valley Valler, the northward stretching up into the mountains called Pfunderer subset of the Zillertal Alps. On a low mountain range to the east over the valley entrance Valler under the Gitschberg the fraction is the fraction Spinges Meransen (1380-1510 m), on a low mountain range to the west of Taleingangs on the southern border to the neighboring community Naz-Sciaves/Natz-Schabs (1090-1190 m).
The Valler valley shall, in conjunction with its most important tributary, the branching off to the northeast Altfasstal, most of the community Muhlbacher total area of 84.12 km ² a. History
The oldest mention of Mulibah finds himself in a Brixner tradition note, dating from around 1050., The German name of the place sets, however, compared with the vordeutschen name of Spinges, Vals, Meransen and Rodanc - Rodeneck, the conjecture suggests that this Bavarian- young German settlement has been planted in the municipal area of these places or the mill district one of these places has formed. Now as well as the fractions Spinges, Vals and Meransen centuries was the capital of Mühlbach ( until 1891 ) to the parish Rodeneck, it may be assumed that Rodank - Rodeneck been the original mother church of Mühlbach. The patron saint is the Helena, which is celebrated on August 15 with a traditional procession.
The border to the Pusteria is the Rio Pusteria. The former valley and roadblock, which was used to levying customs, was mentioned for the first time on January 12, 1269.
