NUTS of Turkey

As NUTS: TR or NUTS regions in Turkey is called Turkey 's territorial breakdown according to the European Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS).

Basics

In Turkey, the three NUTS and two LAU levels are assigned as follows:

  • NUTS -1: 12 Bölgeler (statistical regions)
  • NUTS -2: 26 Old bölgeler ( subregions )
  • NUTS -3: 81 Iller ( provinces, governorates )
  • LAU -1: 923 Ilceler (districts )
  • LAU 2: 37675 Koy ( village communities )

The Bölgeler largely correspond to the Coğrafi bölgeleri ( geographical areas ), but follow the provincial boundaries, and subdivide this part, so there are 12 statistical instead of 7 geographical areas ( also counts Istanbul alone).

In Turkey, the "church " not intended as such, there are Belediye as municipality ( 5000 inhabitants). The Koy is headed by a village council. Among them there are Mahalle than not independent small places.
