Pizy

Pizy was a municipality in the district of Morges in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

The communities Pizy and Aubonne were united on July 1, 2011 Aubonne community.

Geography

Pizy is located on 672 m above sea level. M., 11 km west of the district capital Morges ( straight line ). The community, which consists of individual farms, extends to the plateau above the Vaud Cote, on sloping to the north slope of Signal de Bougy.

The area of ​​2.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the plateau of the Jura foothills in the headwaters of Armary, a right-hand side of Bach's Aubonne. Population

With 76 inhabitants ( 31 December 2010) Pizy was one of the smallest municipalities of the canton of Vaud. Of the 87.7 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 9.2 % and 1.5 % Italian-speaking (as of 2000). The population of Pizy amounted in 1900 to 103 inhabitants. After the population had decreased to 60 to 1980 inhabitants, a slight increase in population was recorded again since then.

Economy

History

The Canons of the Great Saint Bernard founded in the late Middle Ages in Pizy a hospice. The village belonged to the lords of Aubonne. Since the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536 Pizy shared the fortunes of Aubonne and came in 1701 to the bailiwick Aubonne. After the collapse of the ancien régime, the village belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud.
