Morges District

The District de Morges ( ger district Morges ) is an administrative unit of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Capital is Morges. Since 1 July 2011, the District Morges consists of the following 62 municipalities:

The communities Bussigny- pres-Lausanne, Chavannes- près -Renens, Ecublens, Saint- Sulpice VD and Villars -Sainte -Croix no longer belong since 1 January 2008 the district of Morges.

History

The District was divided to 31 December 2007 in the Cercle (German circles) Morges, Ecublens, Colombier and Villars -sous -Yens. 1961 merged municipalities Bussy -sur -Morges and Chardonney -sur- Morges community Bussy -Chardonney.

The District existed until the end of 2007 from 34 communities, was 108.15 km ² and counted 71'682 inhabitants ( end of 2006).
