Psalm 77

The 77th Psalm ( Greek- count of 76 ) is a Psalm of Asaph. It falls into two parts, the first part of a lament and the second part is a hymn. The theme of the psalm is the overcoming of doubt by the pathos of faith.

The lament (verses 2-10)

In the first part, the dirge, it is about a desperate religious thinkers, the more this is sunk in YHWH and the wonderful old stories does, the more he falls into despair, given the current situation.

The psalmist rejects the idea that YHWH's law might have changed. YHWH miracles with the aid of mythological elements ( Wolkenguß, earthquakes, etc.) described.
