Comments

Verse 6

The sixth verse of the psalm speaks of a deity who was the man not entirely dissimilar. This deity is referred to as Elohim ( אלהים ). The ratio of the YHWH, which is also addressed in the verse as "you" is controversial. Some see here Elohim of Yhwh himself isolated - as angels ( so the LXX) or as a heavenly court, others see it as simply an indication of the Unüberbietbarkeit the sovereignty position that was given to man by YHWH. Same as in Gen 1:27 EU follows the destiny of man in the image of a reference to the resulting power ( cf. v. 7).
