Resia, Friuli
The Résiatal or Resia ( Résie Friulian, Slovenian Rezija ) is a mountain valley and municipality with 1083 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). In the western Julian Alps and the Italian Friuli leading from Resiutta in Fellatal eastward into the Ucceatal Seat of the municipality is in the fraction Prato di Resia.

Ethnic special
In Resiatal live about 800 people who are of Slavic origin. The inhabitants derive the name " Resiano " of " Russians " from. Their dialect Resianisch, however, has common roots with the Slovenian dialects of Carinthia, but leaned later, after the linguistic connection was interrupted for Kanaltal by Friulian and German colonization, to the coast dialects ( primorsko ) of Slovene at.
From Resiatal a road leads over the Carnizzasattel into Ucceatal, which is also inhabited by Resianern, and on to Zaga in the Soca Valley, and Slovenia.
Music and dance
Due to the isolated location made or kept in Resiatal very distinct musical traditions are important, especially the dance tunes with their low range and frequent metrical irregularities, mostly played in the change between two quint related keys. Common occupation are two (rarely only one) violins ( " Citira " ), which play the melody in unison, as well as a three-stringed cello ( " Bunkula "), which contributes as a bass instrument a simple bourdon accompaniment. Especially during the Carnival period and 15 August ( Assumption), these traditions are still alive. Because of their characteristics and of the allegedly great age dance music and songs from Resia have an outstanding importance in the repertoire of the folk revival in Slovenia and Friuli get ( groups such as Katice or La Sedona, Ar Salvadie ).
