The Archdiocese of Makassar (Latin: Archidioecesis Makassarensis ) is located in Indonesia Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Makassar.
History
The Archdiocese of Makassar was posted on April 13, 1937 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Fidei Catholicae of annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Apostolic Prefecture of Celebes as Makassar. On May 13, 1948, the Apostolic Prefecture of Makassar was by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution In Archipelagi Indonesiani Apostolic Vicariate.
On January 3, 1961 the Vicariate Apostolic of Makassar was by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Christ raised to an archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Makassar was renamed on August 22, 1973 in Archdiocese of Makassar. On 15 March 2000, the Archdiocese of Ujung Pandang was renamed the Archdiocese of Makassar.
