Roman Catholic Diocese of Manado

The Diocese of Manado (Latin: Dioecesis Manadoensis ) is located in Indonesia Roman Catholic diocese based in Manado.

History

The Diocese of Manado was posted on November 19, 1919 by Pope Benedict XV. from the Apostolic Vicariate of territory Batavia built as Apostolic Prefecture of Celebes. On February 1, 1934, the Apostolic Prefecture of Celebes was by Pope Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Magno perfundimur Apostolic Vicariate. The Apostolic Vicariate of Celebes announced on April 13, 1937 from parts of its territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Makassar. On April 13, 1937, the Apostolic Vicariate of Celebes was renamed Vicariate Apostolic Manado.

On January 3, 1961, the Apostolic Vicariate of Manado was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Christ to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Makassar is a suffragan.
