Roman Catholic Diocese of Pangkal-Pinang

The diocese Pangkal - Pinang (Latin: Dioecesis Pangkalpinangensis ) is located in Indonesia Roman Catholic diocese based in Pangkalpinang.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Bangka and Billiton on December 27, 1923 annexations of the Apostolic Prefecture of Sumatra. She was charged on 8 February 1951 and took the name Vicariate Apostolic, apostolic vicariate - Pangkal Pinang on.

On January 3, 1961, she was elevated to the rank of diocese and the Archdiocese of Medan assumed as suffragan. On 1 July 2003 it became a part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Palembang.
