Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Merauke

The Archdiocese of Merauke (Latin: Archidioecesis Meraukensis ) is located in Indonesia Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Merauke.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded on 24 June 1950, the Apostolic Vicariate of Merauke annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Amboina.

On November 15, 1966, was charged with the Apostolic Constitution Pro suscepto to the rank of Metropolitan diocese and archdiocese. A part of its territory lost it on May 29, 1969, the diocese Agats.
