Ryan Gardner

Ryan Gardner ( born April 18, 1978 in Akron, Ontario ) is a Swiss- Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with SC Bern of the National League A since 2010.

Career
Since his father Dave Gardner played in the 1980s in Switzerland at the HC Ambri -Piotta and EHC Visp, he triggered the first player's license for his son Ryan in Switzerland. This began his career as a hockey player in the Ontario Hockey League, where he was active for the London Knights and the North Bay Centennials one game time 1995-1997.
Then the attacker moved to HC Ambri -Piotta from the Swiss National League A, with which he in 1998 and 1999 IIHF Continental Cup won, and in 1999 the Swiss vice champion. In the summer of 2001, Gardner joined their rivals Canton HC Lugano, the Swiss champion he was for the first time in 2003. He could repeat this success with his team in the season 2005/ 06. At European level, Gardner reached each third place in the IIHF Continental Cup with Lugano in 2003 and 2004. In 2007, Gardner signed a contract with the ZSC Lions, with whom he 2007/ 08 champion was in season and 2009, the inaugural Champions Hockey League won. Since the summer of 2008, he has in addition to the Canadian and the Swiss nationality. In autumn 2009, it was announced that Ryan Gardner will go to SC Bern. He signed the Bern traditional club a contract for four years. With the change to SC Bern in 2010, Ryan Gardner became one of the highest paid ice hockey players of Switzerland. Under Swiss sports media deserves Gardner at SC Bern per year 840 ` 000 gross CHF. In his first season at SC Bern he failed with his new club in the semi-finals at the Kloten Flyers. In the following year game of the season 2011/12 Gardner reached the final with his team and was runner-up. In the decisive seventh game of the finals series the Mutzen subject to the ZSC Lions 1-2.

For Switzerland, the naturalized Gardner participated in the World Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2013.
At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki, he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with this.
