Saint-Étienne-des-Sorts

Saint -Etienne -des -Sorts is a commune with 523 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gard in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It belongs to the district Nîmes and the canton of Bagnols -sur -Cèze.

Geography

The village is located on the right lower reaches of the Rhone in the north-eastern Languedoc. The river also forms the border with the department of Vaucluse and thus to the historic region of Provence. The neighboring municipalities of Saint -Etienne -des -Sorts are Vénéjan the northwest, Mornas in the east, in the southeast and Piolenc Chusclan in the south.

Attractions

The parish church of the village that bears the name of Saint- Étienne was first mentioned in 1297. Originally, it was of Romanesque design, which is only partially preserved today.
